Trust in the Lord

Our move was sudden. The desire to move had been burning within our hearts for quite sometime. We knew the city was not the place to raise our three small children. Everyday as I drove my son to school I became more and more convinced that we had to do something... traffic lights, honks, billboards and traffic jam made my mind foggy. After 1 hour roundtrip we finally made it to our "cookie cutter" neighborhood. The kids begged to play outside. How could they? I needed to cook dinner and they simply could not go outside by themselves. It was not safe.
The following year I decided to homeschool. I did not feel like it was fair for the girls to spend so much time in the car everyday while driving their older brother to school. We were spending less time in the car but they still were not free to roam free like little lambs in the hillside. They just needed constant entertainment and it seemed like it was mostly artificial entertainment like Monkey Joes, Chucky Cheese, etc...

As we sat down and thought about our options, we simply felt defeated. We had bought our house 3 years ago and because of the economic depression, it just did not seem like a good time to move. No way we could sell our home. Our desire to move became dormant till one day we decided to make a trip to Chimney Rock.
It was October and we packed our car ready for an adventure. Our family loves to hike so we were so happy to go to the mountains. As we drove and got closer we were so impressed by the beautiful countryside. Driving through a small town called Rutherfordton we knew this was the place for our family. God had picked this town for us to move. We were not sure how but He would make a way. We claimed God promise that He will give us the desires of our hearts when we take delight in the Lord (Psalm 37:4).

That week Michael my husband looked up the local hospital and applied for a ER nurse position. They called him for a interview a couple weeks later. Mike was nervous but we were just trusting the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind. Our family drove to Rutherfordton that day. I dropped Michael off at the hospital and took the kids to the cutest children's museum in town called Kidsenses and waited... two hours went by. It sure seemed like a long interview. Finally Mike called me to pick him up and he seemed very content. He already had a sheet of paper with all kinds of info for rental homes... wait a minute I said!!! Slow down! Did they hire you? Not yet, he said. Fifteen minutes later the hospital called and said they wanted to hire him!! Oh and when can you start?
